Class Descriptions


Below is a brief description of the SPRING 2026 classes being offered at Young Musicians Idaho. Classes will start January 5th and go till May 26th (No classes the week of March 9 - 13 and April 6 - 10th).   If you have more than one child in the same class you only need one set of class materials.  Classes must have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 children. 

Family Music for Babies (Swing and Sway) (Newborns -20 months)
5 month session
Swing and Sway
Sing, bounce, rock, and dance to songs from around the world
  • Swing and sway to Ping Pong Samba from the Carribbean
  • Rock to songs from South America and Scotland
  • Bounce to Comin' Round the Mountain
  • Dance to the Scottish Quadrille
  • Finger Play to Fee, Fie, Foe, Fum
  • And many more

All babies are born with an aptitude for music. But research shows that their aptitude diminishes if it is not nurtured. The best way to nurture a child's music aptitude is through active music making. By singing and dancing for and with our children in a variety of tonalities, meters and styles we are helping our children reach their full music potential.

This class offers adults the opportunity to play with their babies in a musical setting, experiencing music and movement activities designed to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music. By singing, dancing, bouncing, and rocking, the child's music aptitude is being carefully nurtured, laying the foundation for beat awareness, vocal production, and aural discrimination.

Family Music for Toddlers (Animal Friends) (1 - 4 years)

Animal Friends
We invite you to play with music while we learn about our Animal Friends. This series features a rich collection of songs and chants.  Most of the songs are folksongs that will introduce a new generation to the roots of our musical heritage. 

Dance and Play Instruments together to familiar and new songs:

Move and sing while you learn about animals:

Animal Friends is part of the Family Music, toddler program.  Singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing simple instruments, this class will bring you delightful activites to bridge the natural connection between music and movement, and develop your child's musical aptitude and aural abilities.

Cycle of Seasons (Sun Catchers) (Ages 3 - 6 1/2 Years)

Come Join us as we play in the snow, listen to a screeching owl, take a trip to the circus, and enjoy the Winter/Spring season.

Private Piano Lessons (Ages 6-12)

The final step on the pathway to music literacy is being able to play independently on the Keyboard/piano. In this class your child will learn advanced musical skills. These skills are learned through activites, experiences and playing. This course will give your child the foundation they need to continue into whatever field of music they choose. If flocuses on a holistic approach to learning music.
